I gave in and went to the doctor. The day after I injured it the swelling, bruising, and pain had increased. The doctor took a picture and it only showed minor swelling of the joint. She gave me a fancy splint and told me to call if I did not see improvement in 2 weeks.
It has been a week and there has been much improvement. It looks almost normal and I can make a fist again.
