Memorial Day Weekend

We opened up the cabin for the summer. Opening up the cabin actually takes some work. But it is rewarding. It requires things like unchaining the boat, shaking out the rugs, hooking up the water pump, removing the shutters and wiping up inches of dust and dirt from all surfaces. After being there in the winter and seeing the cabin buried in snow it is fun to help it surface from the winter blanket and great summer. Small patches of snow lingered on the south side of the cabin but the lake was completely melted.

It would not be a weekend in the mountains without some adventure. The road leading down to the lake still had some snow patches and one patch got the best of the Jeep. Bill and a kind passerby spent 9 hours digging it out with ropes and a come along. Some would call this a disaster but to Bill it was pure delight! This is what Jeeps are for right? Going off the road and conquering the challenge of getting it back on. Fortunately for me, we were 1/2 mile from the cabin. :)

My favorite part of the weekend was walking around the lake on Sunday morning with Bill and the dogs. There is something so blissful about watching dogs be dogs. They ran, they sniffed, they swam and they slept afterwards!

The second highlight was watching Sophie learn to climb the stairs to the loft. And of course once Sophie figured out how to do it Murphy had to do it also. Sophie also figured out how to go down. Yah! No more carrying the dogs up to bed!

Here are some pictures.
