Murphy Learns to Swim

I was starting to worry that our newest Portuguesse Water Dog was not interested in the water. Everytime I took him to the water he would sniff the water, dip a paw in, and run the other direction. Recently I read in one of my puppy books that dogs need to be taught how to swim. So that is what we did, just as the book instructed us. We taught Murphy how to swim.

And it worked. Tonight I took him to the duck ponds and he jumped in the water and retrieved sticks like he had been swimming since the day he was born. Who knew that dogs, especially water dogs, needed to be taught how to swim?!
