Airplanes

Bill's dad is a retired United Airlines pilot and still flies planes and helicopters on a regular basis.  He owns a number of them and teaches flying lessons out of the Monterey airport.  (I've heard it said he is one of the best instructors!)  So needless to say Nathan has lots of toy airplanes, including a plane mobile.  And he has been able to identify an airplane since he was probably 7 or 8 months old.

A couple of weekends ago Bill and his dad gave Nathan a tour of the Monterey Airport and all of Tom's helicopters and fixed wing airplanes.  That afternoon when we got home Bill started flying Nathan's airplanes around the house with sound effects and all.  It did not take long for Nathan to learn how to fly an airplane himself.

He has been doing this ever since!  Neither Bill or his siblings have yet to learn to fly.  Tom always says maybe it will skip a generation.  Maybe he is right!
